Coimbatore Tidel Park

Coimbatore Tidel Park is basically an information technology facility (IT Park) promoted by Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu and Software Technology Park of India.

The term Tidel is a portmanteau word of TIDCO and ELCOT. Today, the Coimbatore Tidel Park is a landmark for the city and is considered as one of the best integrated facilities for the IT/ITES industry, coordinated with international standards.

History of Coimbatore Tidel Park

TIDEL Park, pioneered in the southern urban centre of Chennai, Tamil Nadu is a modern conception of integrated facility for Information Technology, and Information Technology Enabled Services (typically an IT Park). The intention of setting up an IT park is conceptualized and modernized primarily for the growth of Information Technology sector in the state of Tamilnadu.

The idea of bringing about an integrated facility took shape when Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), a governmental bureau responsible for developing industries in the state and Electronics Corporation of Tamilnadu (ELCOT), a public sector undertaking operates to encourage, institute and drive State Public Sector initiatives for Electronic items, joined hands together. The Chennai facility kicked off its operations during the year 2000 and is the home of a lot of multinational giant IT/ITES companies. 

Coimbatore Tidel Park - The Success Story

The huge success of the Chennai edition of Tidel Park brought about a big boost to the promoters and led them forward to set up a similar facility for Information Technology in some other city of Tamil Nadua. Coimbatore, stood top on the list of cities considered for the Tidel Park, and the city was easily opted owing to its location and deliberating the fact that the city is an important commercial base in South India with many facilities like international airport and so on.

The Electronics Corporation of Tamilnadu initiated the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Information Technology companies, and TIDEL has proceeded in establishing its facilities in this zone. The final result is the whopping ten storied information technology (IT) facility, which is widely considered as the landmark of the city known as TIDEL Park, Coimbatore. The information technology facility was successfully inaugurated during the year 2010 and there is no stopping from the day since its inauguration. At present, TIDEL Park, Coimbatore plays a crucial role in the economy of the southern state of Tamil Nadu. 

Infrastructure and Features of Coimbatore Tidel Park

The Coimbatore Tidel Park is fundamentally a ten storied facility with which features exceptional planning and layout. The whole-house built-up area of 17 lakh sq.ft. is provided with central air conditioning, and a stand-alone electricity supply system. The facility is equipped with 100% backup power supply by almost five 2000 kilo volt amphere diesel generator sets. The three belowground  floors are specified as parking space for four and two wheelers.

The ground level is portioned for commercial entities, and it houses eating places, banks, conference halls, ATMs, around the clock service staff, security department and post office. The four floors above the ground level is meant for Information Technology/Information Technology Enabled Services entities. Additionally, all the floors are well linked by 20 lifts and four dedicated freight elevators are provided for service maintenance.
