Places to visit in CoimbatoreAaliyar Dam

Aliyar Dam is a reservoir located 27 km away from Pollachi. The dam boasts of a park, an aquarium and a mini Theme-Park maintained by Tamilnadu Fisheries Corporation. 

Drinks and snacks are slightly expensive than the MRP here but you can stay in forest houses at Topslip, Varagalayar, Amaravathi, Sethumadai PWD guest house, Amaravathi guest house etc.

How to reach Aliyar Dam
By Train: Nearest railway station is Pollachi which is 30 km from Monkey falls. There are frequent trains from Coimbatore to Pollachi
By Road: If you are taking public transport, take Town bus (route number 37A and 37B) or take a bus to Navamalai or Valparai and get down at Aaliyar Dam.

By Air: Aaliyar dam is about 77 km from Coimbatore Airport. One can take auto or hire cab at the rate of approx.

Monkey Falls is located at the 29th km junction on the Pollachi-Valparai road and 65 km from Coimbatore. 

An entry fee of Rs. 30 per head must be paid at the check post located along Aaliyar - Monkey Falls route. One of nature's finest and purest sources of minerals and ayurvedic formulations, these falls truly rejuvenate your body and mind.

How to reach Monkey Falls:
By Train: Nearest railway station is Pollachi which is 30 km from Monkey falls. There are frequent trains from Coimbatore to Pollachi.
By Road: Get down by bus at Aaliyar dam, monkey falls is at 5 min distance from Aalliyar dam
By Air: Monkey falls is 82 km from Coimbatore Airport. 

Places to visit in CoimbatoreSiruvani Water falls

Siruvani Waterfalls and the dam named after them are located 35 km to the west of Coimbatore. An entry fee is charged at Sadivayal Checkpost which is the gateway to the falls. 

The water in this falls is famous for its taste and it is typically known to be the second sweetest lake water in the world. However visitors are not allowed to visit after 5 pm owing to its proximity to dense forest inhabited by wild animals.

How to reach Siruvani Waterfalls
By Train: Nearest railway station is Coimbatore junction and Podanur junction.
By Road: Bus lines 59C, 59, 14E, and the Sirvani and Sadivayal buses, ply at regular intervals from Coimbatore.
By Air: Coimbatore airport is 21 km from the fall. 

Black Thunder Water Park

Black Thunder is located around 41 km from Coimbatore on the Ooty main road. There are about 17 water rides like wave pool, volcano, cannon ball ride, lazy river ride and so on. 

The dry rides include roller coaster, columbus, ferris wheel tora tora, and duck train. Entry fee to the park as follows :

How to reach Black thunder water park
By Train: The nearest railway stations are Mettupalayam, Coimbatore and Tiruppur.
By Road:NH 47, NH 67 and NH 209 are the three national highways passing through the city to black thunder.
By Air: Coimbatore airport is 45 km from the water park. Auto and cab facilities are also available.

Kovai Kondattam, the entertainment theme park is situated at Perur in Siruvani main road at a distance of 8.5 km from Coimbatore. The major attractions are water pool, King Kong Tower (Spiral Tower), Aqua Dance (Rain Dance), sky Rock (Pirate Ship), Merry-go- around, Aqua Tots (Kids Play Pool), Mini wonders (Coin Operator Rised) etc. Kovai Kondattam is open on all days from 10.30a.m to 8.30p.m.

By Train: The nearest railway station is Coimbatore junction at a distance of 10 km.
By Road: You can easily get KSRTC bus or hire taxi (04222- 6060909).
By Air: The airport is about 27 km from the park; one can hire an auto or cab are also available here

Places to visit in CoimbatoreIndira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary & National Park

The sanctuary is located about 87 km from Coimbatore city in Pollachi. The floral diversity has been estimated to be over 2000 species, of which about 400 species are of medicinal importance. 

The sanctuary supports extremely diverse faunal population like the Indian Bison, varities of deer, wild boar, wild elephants, tiger, nilgiri langurs and many more. 

The Sanctuary is a birders’ paradise. Over 300 species of birds have been sighted Crested Serpent Eagle, Spot-billied Eagle , Black Eagle, Crested Gohawk etc.

By Train: Nearest Railway Station is in Pollachi – 35 kms away.
By Road: Bus services is available frequently from Pollachi to Topslip 35Km
By Air: Nearest Airport is Coimbatore – 87 kms away. You can hire an auto easily at compatible fare.
